We sincerely want to thank you all for your ongoing support of the RYD Brand. We also wanted to give you a business update during these crazy and uncertain times that we all face globally with the coronavirus pandemic.
Our perspective from RYD Brand and always our philosophy is - May the waves be good where you are. It’s the reason we exist. It’s the reason we bring you product that gets you into the ocean and it’s the reason we get out of bed in the morning – to share that stoke that comes with a life centred around the ocean globally.
We know that in some parts of the world you cannot go surfing right now. There are places and beaches where lockdown is either in place, or imminent. Our partners in New Zealand have just shuttered their retail doors for three weeks, our Californian and Hawaiian tribe have already been ordered to stay at home, South Africa is in lockdown and Australia not far behind. While our team riders and partners in Europe have already been fighting this virus for months. We know it's uncertain and frustrating times for many.
As a company built on sharing stoke, we just want to encourage you to keep your heads up and stay positive. While there are many challenges ahead, we know that ultimately this time will pass, and when it does, we want to assure you we will be here. For our retailers, we want to work with you. We want to make sure business goes well where you are, and while we don’t know what that landscape might look like on the other side, we’re ready to jump in and work that out with you. We are walking hand in hand with you into this, and we’ll walk hand in hand with you out of it too.
As surfers and ocean lovers, we know people will want to get back into the water as soon as possible. Trust us, we are feeling the same way. But we also want your health to be good wherever you are. For some of us that might mean staying out of the ocean for a while, but for all of us, it means we need to be responsible and do the right thing as set out by the leaders of our respective nations.
We acknowledge that these are uncertain times, but we’re in this together. That’s what being a tribe is all about. The ocean is an amazing playground and we are so blessed to call it ours. It’s the one thing that unites us all and it’s the one place we’ll meet again when this all passes.
In the meantime, stay safe and let’s ride this out responsibly together. May the waves be good where you are, even if you can’t paddle out right now.
